Wellington Construction Co. Ltd. was formed in 1972 by a partnership between Alphonse Arsenault and Edgar Gallant, and incorporated in 1974. The company still enjoys its reputation across Prince Edward Island — and it is still the Arsenault family running it.

The partnership
Alphonse Arsenault and Edgar Gallant form Wellington Construction and take on residential and commercial agricultural projects around Wellington.
Incorporated
The company incorporates as Wellington Construction Co. Ltd. The work widens into commercial, industrial, institutional and public tender jobs.
The sons come in
Alphonse's sons, David Arsenault and Roger Arsenault, buy out Edgar Gallant's shares and become business partners with their father.
Second generation
Roger and David buy out Alphonse's shares. The two brothers are the owners of the company today.
Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year
Alphonse Arsenault receives the provincial award from the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of P.E.I., for the contribution he and the company have made to the Island economy and community.
Known for design-build
Still active in every line it grew into, the company has become specialized in design-build — and more clients bring it their design-build projects as that experience gets known.
Primarily commercial
The company designs and builds commercial projects, and also takes on residential and commercial concrete contracts, new homes, and renovations small and large.
Acadian and francophone
Wellington sits in the Island's Acadian country. The founder's award came from the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of P.E.I.
